There is no doubt that plastic in all its forms produces tremendous amounts of waste. Some items; however, have a quaint familiarity for us. Those toys that your children once played with; the plastic tennis rackets, the aeroplanes found in show bags, barrels of monkeys and sauce bottles to name but a few, are weather we like it or not, part of our psyche. Many of her bodices are reminiscent of Madonna in her early days or Japanese inspired armour.
Annabelle Collette has allowed these items to take on new forms. Her works evoke a sense of nostalgia with creations that form sculptures; installations, wall pieces, lighting and clothing. This exhibition is a must see and is on until the 23rd of June.
